Hi! My name is Amanda Stewart, and I’m thrilled to take you through my exciting journey as the Digital Strategy and Marketing Intern at North Light AI. I graduated this past May from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. Throughout my studies, I was always drawn to the intersection of creativity and strategy, which is exactly what brought me here.

As someone passionate about brand storytelling, digital media, and impactful design, this internship has become the perfect space to turn those passions into practical, real-world contributions in a company that’s pushing the boundaries of AI technology.

Why I Joined North Light AI

After gaining experience in nonprofit event marketing and social media strategy, I was looking for a role that would challenge me creatively while giving me space to grow professionally. North Light AI stood out as a company that values innovation, encourages independence, and empowers interns to take full ownership of meaningful projects.

What really excited me was the chance to be part of something at an early-stage, where my ideas could make a real impact and where the work I do directly contributes to shaping the brand and company direction. From day one, I felt like my voice mattered.

What I’m Working On

One of my biggest projects this summer has been leading the redesign and rebrand of North Light AI’s website. The goal is to create a site that’s visually engaging, user-friendly, and clearly communicates who we are while showcasing our growing suite of products: Prime Ready AI, GrantSpace, and Baseline AI.

Instead of building on what we had, I chose to start fresh and build the site from scratch using Wix Studio. That meant learning a brand-new platform, figuring out how to structure the user experience, designing with intention, and writing copy that reflects our brand. It's been an exciting challenge, one that’s stretched both my creative thinking and my technical problem-solving skills.

Beyond the website, I've also helped brainstorm and source branded merchandise to represent North Light AI in a fresh, polished way. I’ve been leading the intern spotlight series, which includes planning the rollout, writing and editing the blog posts, and making sure each profile captures the unique voice, personality, and contributions of our intern team. You’ll see these features go live every Friday on our blog!

My Approach

Redesigning the entire website initially felt daunting. I’d never used Wix Studio before. While I felt confident in the design and storytelling side, the UX/UI functionality was a learning curve.

My approach? Dive in. I started by exploring the platform. I set small goals, focusing on one page at a time, and gave myself permission to make mistakes. Over time, I got into a rhythm. I learned tips and tricks, worked through the frustrations, and celebrated the small wins. I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of iteration. Nothing has to be perfect at first. Progress always beats perfection.

I also leaned heavily on collaboration. I asked questions, gathered feedback, and used those insights to continuously refine my work. Building this site has been as much about creative exploration as it has been about embracing the technical challenges that come with trying something totally new.

From Vlogs to Visual Strategy

Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved being in front of the camera—filming makeup tutorials, “get ready with me” videos, and shopping hauls just for fun. Capturing and creating content became one of my favorite ways to express myself. I’ve always enjoyed documenting my life through photography and video, whether it’s editing a travel vlog or putting together a highlight reel to share with friends and family. It’s my version of telling stories in a way that feels more personal and expressive.

That early passion is a big part of what drew me to North Light AI. I was excited about the opportunity to bring that same creative energy into a professional setting, where I could explore the digital side of branding and strategy. Growing up, I spent so much time learning how to shoot, edit, and share content on different platforms, and those experiences made me naturally tech-savvy. In a way, that early interest in visual storytelling now connects seamlessly with the collaborative, design-driven environment at North Light AI.

Culture that Clicks

I truly appreciate our hybrid schedule, which blends in-office collaboration with focused remote work. It’s the kind of setup that makes work feel flexible, not overwhelming, and that goes a long way.

Even though we’re each working on our own projects, there’s still a strong sense of connection. The environment is collaborative, and you can tell people really care about what they’re building. That kind of energy makes it easy to stay motivated.

And honestly, one of my favorite parts of the week is our Thursday team lunches. It’s a chance to pause, catch up face-to-face, and hear what others are working on. Whether we’re talking projects or just chatting about life, those casual moments really reinforce the sense of community we’ve built here

What I Admire Most About the Team

What stands out most isn’t just the work—it’s the people. Andrew, our Founder and President, and Peter, Chair of the Advisory Board, are both my supervisors and have been incredibly supportive, approachable, and invested in helping us grow. They’ve created an environment where asking questions feels natural and welcomed. Growth is genuinely prioritized, and there’s a strong sense of trust woven into how we work.

They give us the space to own projects while still being available to offer guidance. And they make sure we stay connected as a team whether it’s through weekly check-ins, shared wins, or working lunches outside the office. That sense of camaraderie and care has made all the difference.

Best Lunch Spot This Summer?

Definitely the food trucks in Durham, NH. We came here for a company lunch one afternoon, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Families were out with their dogs, the weather was nice, and it made for a great spot to have conversations outside of the office. There were many food options to choose from, but somehow, we all ended up with burrito bowls. I guess they’re the undisputed win.

Advice for Future Interns

If you're joining North Light AI as an intern, my biggest piece of advice is: take initiative. You’ll get the most out of your experience by stepping up, asking questions, and truly owning your projects. This is a place where curiosity and creativity are valued, so lean into both.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of collaboration. Some of the best insights I’ve gotten have come from casual conversations with teammates. Everyone here is willing to share what they know and that collective knowledge is one of the best parts of being on this team.

Final Thoughts

This internship has been a defining part of my summer. It challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, think more intentionally about my work, and really embrace the learning process. I’ve grown in ways that are hard to capture on paper, both professionally and personally.

I’m proud of what I’ve contributed and even more thankful for the people who’ve supported me along the way. Working alongside my coworkers who genuinely value open collaboration made each day feel engaging and worthwhile.

If you’re looking for a place that gives you room to grow and encourages you to bring your ideas to the table, North Light AI is it. Thanks for following along on my journey!
