My name is Julia Fichera, and I'm excited to share my journey as the Learning & Marketing Content Intern at North Light AI. As a rising senior, I'm majoring in Business Administration at the University of New Hampshire, with a focus on Marketing and Information Systems & Business Analytics. This combination allows me to blend strategic thinking with creativity.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving, and understanding its complexities is essential. I am grateful for the chance to work at a company focused on these issues. North Light AI has given me space to ask questions, explore ideas, and build a deeper understanding of AI.
My Experience
I design interactive learning experiences using Storyline 360 and Rise 360, transforming complex topics into clear, engaging lessons that resonate. Throughout my internship, I’ve also gained hands-on experience with creative tools like Canva, Pictory, and HeyGen. From designing marketing materials to producing video content, each project has challenged me to think creatively, adapt quickly, and expand my skill set.
There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a finished course or approved flyer come to life. Since North Light AI is still in its early stages, I know the work I’m doing is truly making a difference. That’s a great feeling to carry with me to work every morning.
What I’m Learning
Throughout this internship, I've learned to navigate a variety of emerging tools. Mastering these platforms has significantly boosted my technical skills and enhanced my value in the job market post-graduation.
Beyond technical skills, this internship has really helped me grow in other key areas, especially project management and communication. I’ve been trusted with meaningful projects and given the support to see them through, which has pushed me to manage timelines, coordinate with others, and stay organized.
Working in a fast-paced environment has also sharpened my communication skills. I’ve learned that when I hit a roadblock, it’s far better to ask questions and get clarity than to stay stuck. That kind of open, direct communication keeps everything moving and has been one of the most valuable lessons so far.
Building Confidence
An unexpected benefit of my internship has been a boost in self-confidence. Being surrounded by a collaborative and encouraging team has made it easier to speak up, share ideas, and take creative risks. With each project, I’ve learned to trust my instincts more and knowing my contributions are valued pushes me to show up with my best effort every day.
I’ve also come to really appreciate the balance that our hybrid schedule offers. On in-office days, I enjoy the energy of face-to-face collaboration and casual conversations with the team. On remote days, I love being able to dive into focused work from the comfort of home. What makes this setup work so well is North Light’s emphasis on clear communication. Having defined goals and regular check-ins keeps everything moving smoothly without ever feeling overwhelming.
And finally, no productive day is complete without a little reward. For me, that’s peanut M&Ms. I’m convinced they’re the perfect treat—small, satisfying, and the best way to celebrate a task well done.
More Than Just Work
While I’ve gained valuable skills during my internship, the most impactful part has been the people. I’ve had the chance to work with incredibly driven, thoughtful individuals whose passion motivates me to do my best. I’ve always admired entrepreneurs, so being part of such an innovative and dedicated team has been genuinely inspiring. The other interns are not only talented, but also great to be around, which makes the experience even better.
Thursdays have become my favorite day of the week. With most of us in the office, our team lunches are a fun way to connect and hear what everyone’s working on. Even if I don’t always understand the technical details, I love learning from those conversations and leave feeling more energized every time.
Outside the Internship
This summer marks my first time living in New Hampshire, and coming from Baldwinsville, New York, it’s been exciting to explore a new environment. I’ve always loved spending time outdoors, and being surrounded by such beautiful scenery has only deepened that appreciation.
When I’m not outside, I’m usually diving into a good book. I typically finish at least one a week, and I’m always drawn to storytelling—whether through books, movies, or shows. That love for stories ties closely to another passion of mine: travel.
Just before starting this internship, I returned from studying abroad in Verona, Italy—an experience that sparked even more curiosity about the world. I’ve visited about a dozen countries so far, and the excitement of discovering new places never gets old.
Looking Toward the Future
As graduation approaches in May 2026, I’ve been thinking more intentionally about the job search ahead. While it can feel a bit overwhelming, I’m equally energized by the possibilities. Ideally, I’d love to secure an offer before graduation, but I understand that finding the right fit takes time. For now, I’m focused on gaining meaningful experience and clarity around the kind of career I want to pursue.
My experience at North Light AI has been instrumental in shaping my career aspirations. This internship has not only allowed me to develop valuable skills, but also expanded my perspective on the opportunities available in the field. Working alongside a team of individuals who are genuinely passionate about their work has reinforced the importance of finding a role that offers both purpose and energy. That’s the kind of environment I aim to pursue after graduation.
Advice for Future Interns
The best advice I can offer is to embrace not knowing everything right away. As someone who doesn’t naturally enjoy uncertainty, I’ve learned that feeling a bit lost at the beginning is completely normal when starting something new. Whether it's a tool, process, or concept you’re unfamiliar with, you’ll figure it out—and you won’t be doing it alone. One of the most reassuring parts of this experience has been the support from the team around me. No one expects you to have all the answers on day one. Once you push through the initial learning curve, things start to fall into place.
Reflecting on Growth
My internship at North Light AI has transformed my journey. I've refined my technical skills, boosted my confidence, and built a strong network. I feel empowered as I move toward graduation and my future career. I'm thankful for the experiences and incredible individuals I've met along the way.
AI continues to shape business and technology landscapes, and I am fortunate to be part of an organization that values this journey of exploration. The knowledge I've gained has unlocked new potential in me and strengthened my aspirations for a meaningful career.
I look forward to the next steps in my journey and hope my experiences inspire fellow students to pursue similar opportunities for growth. Thank you for taking the time to read about my exciting path at North Light AI—this is just the beginning!
